May 24, 2023 web update from the CHRO Office (Memry Dahl)
As CHRO, I want to assure you that the University of Alaska is working to apply retroactive pay to faculty, adjuncts, staff, firefighters, and local 6070 bargaining unit members in active jobs on June 4, 2023. Faculty and staff who are off contract and will be returning to their position in academic year 2023-2024 are considered in an active status. Retirees who left the university after the academic year 2022-2023, will receive the retroactive payment including those retiring in May.
As the legislature approved the supplemental budget that included the FY23 increases along with the FY24 budget on May 19, 澳门六合彩开奖appHR鈥檚 first priority was to communicate with employees an overview of the process and dates for making the retroactive payments; now, we are in the process of finalizing the details, and working through unique cases. We are also currently working with the State of Alaska Division of Retirement and Benefits. The HR team will be reaching out to individual retirees in the coming weeks.
I will continue to provide updates through our . If you have any concerns after we have released additional information - likely next week - please reach out to UA HR Customer Service via email (ua-hr@alaska.edu), and they will be able to respond with the latest information available.
Sincerely,
Memry Dahl, CHRO

May 15, 2023 update via email from the CHRO Office (Memry Dahl)
As the Legislature enters its final stages of passing a budget, 澳门六合彩开奖appHuman Resources (澳门六合彩开奖appHR) wants to provide an update about FY23 retroactive pay and FY24 compensation increases. We understand there is a desire to know what to expect and when, and want you to know what plans we have in place to apply those increases.
澳门六合彩开奖appHR was ready to begin to implement retroactive and base wage adjustments for FY23 based on legislative approval this week. At this time, it appears unlikely that the Legislature will have finished business as scheduled on May 17. The retroactive pay for FY23 and compensation increases for FY24 are included in the supplemental and operating budgets respectively, and we cannot apply those increases until the Legislature approves them. As a result, we are in a holding pattern, and watching closely for that approval to occur. Once the budgets are approved, we will communicate specific next steps. Until then, please refer to our FY23 & FY24 Retroactive Pay Adjustments and Compensation Increases for brief updates.
The Background
In February 2023, the Governor introduced a supplemental FY23 budget that includes salary increases for the current 2023 fiscal year. The supplemental budget includes the negotiated FY23 3% salary increase for faculty and an additional 1% increase for staff, fire fighters, and local 6070 bargaining unit members. These increases cannot be applied to base salaries until the Legislature grants the University the budgetary authority to do so. Because the increases were to be effective at the beginning of the fiscal year that ends June 30, 2023, 澳门六合彩开奖appHR has a plan to apply both the increase to current salaries and pay retroactively for the full 2023 fiscal year.
If you have any questions, please contact 澳门六合彩开奖appHuman Resources at ua-hr@alaska.edu.

CHRO Dahl will provide an update next week on when salary increases can be expected to appear in paychecks. While 澳门六合彩开奖appHuman Resources cannot pay increases without Legislative approval of the FY23 supplemental budget, the plan is in place to begin applying those increases as soon as approval is received. Watch your email for more information on what to expect and the timeline.
