1990-1998 Jerome B. Komisar
Jerome B. Komisar became the 11th president of the University of Alaska in August, 1990. Prior to accepting that appointment he was Executive Vice Chancellor of the State University of New York System and President of its Research Foundation. During his 24 years with the State University of New York he held a number of administrative and faculty positions including: Acting Chancellor, Provost, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Programs, Vice-Chancellor for Faculty and Staff Relations, Acting President of New York State University College at New Platz, and University Professor of Economics.
Dr. Komisar has had numerous articles and papers on economics and higher education published. He also currently chairs the Alaska Aerospace Development Corporation.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Komisar majored in economics and holds a bachelors degree from New York University and a masters and doctorate from Columbia University.
