Rollins has served as project manager for more than a dozen state and federal grant
programs involving digital libraries and electronic resources. He played a significant
role in the planning and construction of the new library building, completed in October
2004. He is the first Alaskan elected to the OCLC Members Council and served on OCLC's
Advisory Committee for College and University Libraries. He was elected to BCR's Board
of Trustees and in 2004 was elected president of the board. Steve Rollins is currently
the Project Director for the "SLED 2: Alaska's Virtual Library" project, a three year
grant program funded by the Rasmuson Foundation. Steve Rollins is also the chair of
the Alaska Library Network Statewide Databases Steering Committee and its Reciprocal
Borrowing Committee. Before moving to Alaska, Steve Rollins held the position of Associate
Dean of Library Services for nine years at the University of New Mexico. He was recipient
of the New Mexico Library Leadership Award. His publications have appeared in American Libraries, the Texas Library Journal, Online Review, Library HiTech, and Violence Against Women.
