Navigating Difficult Conversations During Difficult Times

The last several years have presented enormous challenges and we’re navigating workplaces that have changed – there are budget constraints, limited time and resources, uncertainties, and new ways of working. All of this creates stress, tension, and the need to have tough conversations. So how can you deal with inevitable disagreements in a professional and productive way? In this interactive talk, Amy Gallo, contributing editor at Harvard Business Review and author of Getting Along: How to Work with Anyone (Even Difficult People) and the HBR Guide to Dealing with Conflict and, combines management research and practical insights to provide straightforward advice on how to disagree with respect and empathy. Participants will learn how to develop:

  • Better awareness of one’s own communication style and the impact on peers, direct reports, and other colleagues
  • A deeper understanding of the interpersonal dynamics that affect collaboration
  • Expanded repertoire of skills and abilities to address conflicts when they arise, work collaboratively, and build trusting relationships
