Dr. Jennifer McFerran Brock has been named the Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Engineering at the University of Alaska Anchorage after an internal search for a new associate dean was conducted.
Dr. Brock has been with UAA since August 2009; she currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering with tenure in the College of Engineering. Dr. Brock has been lauded by students for her exemplary teaching practices, while maintaining rigorous standards and emphasizing problem-solving and writing skills in line with ABET student learning outcomes. She was instrumental in developing a fast-track M.S. program in Mechanical Engineering. She has made significant contributions in service to both the Mechanical Engineering department, serving as chair from 2014 to 2019, and the university, participating in the UAA GER Assessment, co-chairing the Academic Taskforce on Program Prioritization and co-chairing the UAA Institutional Self-Study Committee. She also serves as an ABET evaluator, which provides invaluable insight into our own specialized accreditation. Dr. Brock was appointed as the interim associate dean in March 2019 and has demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as an understanding of the complexities and needs of the position.
Dr. Brock has assumed the position of Associate Dean for Academics as of Monday, April 13.
