Remote work Internet allowance will end Aug. 28
July 30, 2021
In April 2020, in an effort to mitigate risks from the COVID pandemic, the University of Alaska required most employees to work remotely. In order to cover any incremental or new costs related to increased demand for home internet, the University of Alaska established an internet connectivity allowance program on a temporary and hardship basis.
Now that employees are returning to the office or transitioning to elective remote work arrangements, the program will end. The allowance will be discontinued August 28, 2021. As employees and supervisors discuss any longer term remote work arrangements it needs to be clear to all parties that the Internet Connectivity Allowance Program will not be available.
